Kasargod, Apr 7: A youth league activist was killed in the clash that erupted after the polling got over at Kannur in the district.
Mansur (22), resident of Koothuparamba Pullakere is the person who died in the clash. His brother Muhasin (27) is seriously injured. A gang entered the house of deceased at around 8.30 pm on Tuesday April 6 and threw a raw bomb and attacked Mansur and Muhasin with lethal weapons. Both Mansur and Muhasin, who were seriously injured, were taken to Kozhikode hospital. Mansur succumbed to his injuries on the morning of Wednesday April 7.

Friction occurred between the workers of youth league and CPM on the afternoon of Tuesday near the polling booth. Muhasin, brother of deceased Mansur was the UDF agent near the polling booth. It is said that a gang had threatened Muhasin while returning home after the polling was over.
After throwing the bomb and attacking the brothers, the gang fled from the spot. One CPM worker is taken into custody by Koothuparamba police. UDF has called for Hartal under Koothuparamba legislative assembly constituency limits on Wednesday April 7 in condemnation of the act.
