Daijiworld Media Network - Bantwal (SP)

Bantwal, Apr 5: It is a common practice to offer fruit juice to blood donors after they donate their blood. However, in the blood donation camp held at Vittal on Sunday April 4, the donors were given petrol instead of juice.

On Sunday, a blood donation camp was organized by Bantwal taluk light and sound dealers’ union Vittal zone, Mangalapadavu Ideal Fuels, Vittal Lions Club and Mangaluru KMC Hospital at the government school, Okkettoor. For the first 50 blood donors, one litre petrol or diesel was offered free of cost. The blood donors who collected coupons at the spot, went to the Ideal petrol bunk to get fuel for their vehicles. The organizers said that this move was meant to attract more blood donors.

District president of Light and Sound Dealers Union, Rakjashekhara Shetty, noted that hospitals are facing shortage of blood during the post-corona period and demand outweighs supply. Some hesitate to donate blood. He said that petrol or diesel was offered to the first 50 donors to encourage more people to donate blood.

Really is it a joke?Only a glas of juice after donating blood? Now Petrol ?People who donate blood be given a glas of juice or a cup of coffee to drink first to stabilize their blood pressure. Then later either some money or Petrol for tank their vehicle. One liter of petrol is too less.what costs a 500ml blood?People dont be so small hearted.Blood is very costly. Here people get automatically 25 Euro.acup coffee or whatever they want.As I was working in blood bank in Goa in 70s they were getting some 30Rupees (Professionals )or more from relatives .Is it a trick to buy more petrol?what costs a liter of Petrol in India? That depends.

Fools do not understand that the juice given is not a complement. It is just to replenish the water in the circulatory system after suddenly withdrawing 600ml of blood!!!
