Bengaluru, Mar 26: There is no question of hiding Covid numbers and the state government has been releasing factual data, said health and family welfare minister Dr K Sudhakar on Friday.
Speaking to reporters, Dr Sudhakar, who is also the state’s medical education minister said, "Our Government neither intends nor it is possible to hide any details.’’
The minister said the state government was not hiding any statistics regarding Covid-19. All opposition leaders are welcome to give their valuable suggestions for controlling Covid. They can also figure out any flaws in the system.
The chief minister may call an all-party meeting to discuss the issue. We are free to discuss anything in this regard, he said.
Chief minister B S Yediyurappa has taken a decision on festival celebrations. We have put restrictions on public gatherings and congregations during upcoming festivals.
There are 704 cases in Manipal Institute alone and it has been sealed down. We are taking stringent measures everywhere to curb spreading.
"A total of 35,000 cases have been reported in Maharashtra yesterday and 2,000 here. People should take it seriously and follow precautions. Youth should voluntarily take the elderly people at home people for vaccination,’’ he said.
The technical advisory committee has suggested several precautionary measures.
The chief minister will take a decision in this regard. It is difficult to restrict any activity. But keeping in view the spread of infection, adequate measures will be initiated.
Health department officials have submitted a representation to the Election Commission regarding safe conduct of by-elections amidst the second wave, said Dr Sudhakar.
