Mangaluru, Mar 25: Shashikala from Sullia, who had visited Dubai to work as a domestic maid, who had gone missing for a year, has finally reached home safe, thanks to the efforts made by the International Kannadigas Federation.

A video clip of Shashikala's mother lamenting before the cameras about the fact that her daughter could not be contacted either by her parents or children, had been carried by the social media which soon went viral. Hidayat Addoor, convener of the said federation, giving details to the media, stated that after learning about the news carried by a private TV channel, Harish Kodi, member of KNRI Forum, contacted him. "Our team immediately found out the current location of Shashikala through the agents and informed Chaya Krishnamurthy of the Indian Association. She brought Shashikala to the Ajmal Shelter Home within a day and undertook measures needed to help her go back home," he explained.

Shashikala was in Dubai since a year without work. The police case registered against her was solved. In the place of the lost passport, she was issued a white passport. The emergency exit certificate was obtained and after remitting the fine imposed on Shashikala at the emigration, she was subjected to coronavirus test. Ticket was also procured for her. Chaya Krishnamurthy got involved with this 12-day effort as a result of which Shashikala could reach home safely.
