Sullia: One charred to death as truck, bus catch fire after colliding head-on

Sullia, Mar 25: In a tragic accident that occurred late night on Wednesday March 24, between a container truck and private bus at Nellyadi on Mangaluru-Bengaluru national highway, the driver of the truck got burnt alive and the bus was completely gutted by fire.

A bus belonging to Sri Durga Travels was plying to Bengaluru from Kundapur. It collided head-on with a container truck at Mannagundi in Nellyadi. Due to the impact of the collision, the truck caught fire and the driver in the truck was burnt alive as he could not come out of the cabin.

The bus got completely destroyed due to the fire. Locals rushed to the spot and helped to douse the fire. Fire service personnel and police reached the spot and took further action.

The bus driver and passengers who suffered minor injuries were shifted to hospital. A case has been registered at Uppinangady police station and investigation is in progress.
