Mangaluru, Mar 22: Sri Vishwaprasanna Theertha Swamiji, head of Pejawar Math Udupi, said that attempts are being made by many to hurt the religious beliefs of Hindu society with the tacit aim of breaking their unity.
The Swamiji, who also is the trustee of Sri Ram Janma Boomi Seva Trust., Ayodhya, alerted the people to be wary of attempts being made to hurt the religious faith of Hindus for breaking their unity. "We have retained our distinct identity because of our faith and respect towards Sanskrit. Evil forces are out to destroy this very foundation. We need to stay together and face such aggression. Hindu society should always remain together whether there is an attack on us or not," he opined.
He was delivering the benedictory address at the religious meeting held as part of the 'Koragajja Adi Kshetrakke Namme Nade' programme in whichi devotees went from Kadri Lord Manjunatheshwara temple Mangaluru to Sri Koragajja Adi Kshetra shrine in Kuthar, Ullal, on Sunday March 21.
"Sri Ram Mandir at Ayodhya represents our culture. Our fight for Ram Mandir has succeeded after a long drawn action plan. As long as Hindus remain on earth, the Mandir will stay. Women have been facing lot of injustices and atrocities in the country. The government has been often reporting about the women going missing. We have to impart knowledge about the ideals followed by Lord Ram to the children. The parents should teach the children to respect the elders in the family and uphold the Hindu culture," he advised.
Vishwa Hindu Parishad working president, Prof M B Puranik, said that damaging Hindu centres of faith has been a social evil. He said that the Hindu religion, which faced onslaught from the Moghuls and the Christians has never been defeated. "Evil-minded people who speak in such a way that the listeners suffer from a sense of inferiority complex, plan to misuse the weakness of Hindus and conspire for their religious conversion. Hinduism is the oldest religion that has embraced everyone and Hindus are known for tolerance and patience. However, our patience has a limit. The society which did not spare those who torched the train carrying the Kar Sevaks has a limit for its patience, and the power to stop if there is excessive assault," he warned.
Tulu folklore scholar, K K Pejawar, asked Vishwa Hindu Parishad to take steps to stall the posts being made by teenagers in Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram etc about the Daivas, those who take part in religious ceremonies, Daiva Patri etc. He said that people should properly understand rich traditions of Tulunadu before making comments. He opined that glorification of everything is also bad as divinity and richness of art suffer in such cases.
Managing trustee of Sri Panjamdaya Banta Daivasthana and Sri Koraga Taniya Adisthala, Raveendranath Poonjoa, Vishwa Hindu Parishad joint secretary, Krishnamurthy, district president Gopal Kuthar, and Bajrang Dal district convener Puneet Attavar, were present.
