Mangaluru, Mar 19: MLA U T Khader on Saturday March 20 said that many communities in the state want the government to include them under the 2A category of backward classes. If the government includes such communities under 2A category of backward classes, the actual backward classes will be deprived of reservation, he said.
He was speaking during a press meet at the circuit house in here.
He said, "If the government includes the Panchamasali community in 2A category of backward classes, it will be injustice for the backward classes communities like Poojary, Thiya, Ganiga, Gatti Achari, and other backward communities of Dakshina Kannada.”
He also said that it is because of the BJP’s dual stand, several communities are seeking reservations. "As they assured of providing reservations to certain communities prior to the elections, people are demanding the same," Khader said.
“It is the responsibility of the government to see that these backward classes do not face injustice. The youth of these communities will face more injustice in the future,” he said.
He also alleged that MP and MLAs in the district are silent on this matter. “They are not concerned to protect the interest of the backward classes. It is a painful thing,” he said.
"Nearly, 2.5 lac youth in the government sector are working under contract basis. The government should take steps to make them permanent by recruiting them under merit and reservation basis," he said.
Khader also said that the move of the union government to privatise the government sector is a way to abolish reservation indirectly.
“The state government has stopped various scholarship programmes provided to the students. Due to this, the students are affected,” he said.
Vishwas Das, AC Jayaraj, Ashraf and Harish were present during the press meet.
