Udupi, Mar 19: "In view of promoting Atmanirbhar Bharat and in view of environmental conservation, Sri Krishna math in the coming days will be equipped with solar power energy for energy consumption," said Govindraj, manager of Sri Krishna Math.
Addressing the press meet Govindraj said, "An average math spends around Rs 2 lac every month for the electricity. To reduce this cost, Paryaya Admar Math, Sri Eeshapriya Theertha Swamiji and the committee decided to install the solar unit. The cost of this unit will be around Rs 60 lac. This project will reduce the dependency on MESCOM electricity power. The unit will be equipped with 135 kw. The yearly savings on electricity bill be approximately Rs 18 lac."
Speaking about the project, Balakrishna Acharya, the assistant manager, Orb Energy said, "It was my long-term dream to install a solar unit in Krishna Math. There is no production at the moment and we have to work out a few ways of saving the resources. The 135 kw unit will save on an average Rs 1.40 lac per month. The excess energy produced will be bought by MESCOM. The unit will be installed on the rooftop of Rajangana."
The project also proved beneficial in Admar math guesthouse.
