Bengaluru, Mar 18: Union fertilisers and chemicals minister D V Sadananda Gowda, who turned 68 on Thursday, had a special treat with none other than Prime Minister Narendra Modi sending him birthday greetings by writing him a personal letter in Kannada.
"Hearty greetings to you on your birthday. As a key member of the union cabinet, you are playing a major role in the creation of the New India with your hard work, immense strength and constant work attitude,’’ the Prime Minister wrote in his letter in Karnataka’s official language of Kannada.
The union minister, who had served as the state’s chief minister, along with his fans and supporters as well as those organisations supporting him planned some charities including distribution of wheelchairs, sewing machines etc at different places of Bengaluru. One such event will be held in KC General Hospital in the morning.
The Prime Minister, in his letter of birthday greetings, said, "Birthday of a person is an important occasion to appreciate and realize the importance of individuals. It is also a day to get inspiration to serve and work for your family, society and country. Your work and dedication to serving the nation and your style of work and functioning will be an inspiration for the younger generation to serve the country.’’
"I pray to almighty that you will be blessed with good health and happiness and for a bright future for you,’’ Modi said.
The Prime Minister has also sent a tweet extolling D V Sadananda Gowda as an experienced leader who had worked for strengthening the party from the grassroots. His work in the Chemicals and Fertiliser Ministry is exemplary. I pray for his long life.
Sadananda Gowda responded to the Prime Minister’s letter sending birthday greetings and tweets through a tweet of his own, saying, "The work of a capable and strong leader like you for the progress of the country and an inspiration for all of us. I look forward to your continued guidance.’’
The Sadasmitha Foundation, run by the family of the union minister, as also the IFFCO fertilizer factory in the cooperative sector, distributed wheelchairs to 25 differently-abled persons. Sweets and fruits were distributed to patients in KC General and K R Pura hospitals. Sewing machines were distributed to 75 women in Tavarekerehobli.
