Udupi, Mar 16: Gram panchayat members of Congress in Tenkanidyoor staged a protest against the ruling BJP on Tuesday Mach 16, over the shifting of the front door of the panchayat without passing a resolution in the gram panchayat general body meeting.
Chaos erupted while Prakash Shetty, a gram panchayat member from Congress, submitted a memorandum to the president of the gram panchayat.
It is said that even the public faced inconvenience due to shifting of the door.
Responding to the accusations, gram panchayat president Gayathri said, “As we have majority, we are allowed to take up new works either passed or not in the general body meeting. We had intended to present the work in the next general body meeting. As there were many complaints from the general public in relating to the entrance door and the difficulties faced by them in entering the panchayat office, as per public request and in view of future development work we had planned, we decided to shift the main door. We have a plan to make this panchayat a model panchayat in the upcoming days.”
