Bengaluru, Mar 14: Deputy Chief Minister and Higher Education Minister Dr C N Ashwath Narayan has warned that criminal case will be filed against those circulating ‘’fake circular" on the State Government declaring 15 days holidays for schools and colleges from March 15 to 31 in view of the surge in Covid cases.
Issuing a statement from Hubballi, the Deputy Chief Minister clarified that the State Government has not issued any circular on granting holidays to schools and colleges for 15 days and termed the alleged circular going viral in the social media as ‘’totally fake."
"I have asked my department officials to lodge criminal complaints against those circulating the fake message on holidays," Dr Narayan said.
He said the State Government has not taken any decision on declaring holidays to schools and colleges in the State on account of surge in Covid cases in the recent past.
"Circulating fake messages has caused lot of confusion in the minds of the students and their parents," he said pointing out that circulating a fake circular in the name of the State Government is a serious criminal offence.
The Deputy Chief Minister said the State Government has directed the Cyber police to investigate and find out the miscreants responsible for circulating the fake message in the name of the government.
Dr Narayan said nobody should play with the future of students and cause undue hardships and anxiety in the minds of the people.
"All are concerned about the Covid pandemic. Those trying to disrupt the education system and playing havoc with the lives of students, staff and parents to disrupt the education system will be dealt with severely," he warned.
