Udupi, Mar 12: The Manipal police have arrested two people for ambushing a male and a female college student on a scooter and for misbehaving with the female student. The accused have been identified as Vivekananda Kamath (27), resident of Kela Parkala and Dhananjay (26), resident of Maruti Nagar, Parkala.
The concerned students were travelling on a scooter near Eshwar Nagar, Manipal around 1.30 am on March 12 when the two accused ambushed their vehicle. The duo also misbehaved with the female student. The female victim immediately complained about the incident to the police staff on rounds at night who then conveyed it to the Manipal police station.

Soon after the information was received, the police swung into action and arrested the two youths. A case in this connection has also been registered at Manipal police station. Meanwhile, the two suspects have been remanded to judicial custody.
Udupi SP S Vishnuvardhan has requested people and students in Manipal to exercise caution while travelling at nights. He has warned of suitable action against the guilty irrespective of their status.
