Kochi, Mar 12: An accused in gold smuggling case, Sandeep Nair, in a letter addressed to Ernakulam Principal Sessions Court has claimed that Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials threatened him to name chief minister (CM) Pinarayi Vijayan. However, ED officials consider it as tactics of the accused to get bail in the case and said stated that they will examine the allegations.
A three-page letter written by Sandeep came out on Friday.

Sandeep, who is in jail after being sentenced under COFEPOSA act, in his letter, also claimed that ED officials threatened him to name two ministers and the son of an influential person along with CM Vijayan in the case. He claimed that the officials offered him help to get bail and other matters if he acts as per their demand.
It may be recalled, two women police officials on guard duty at ED office in Kochi, had earlier revealed that the central agency compelled the gold smuggling case accused Swapna Suresh to name CM Vijayan.
