Mangaluru, Mar 10: It is a woman who shouldered the responsibility of 'work for home' and 'work from home' during the Covid time, through which she exposed her potential of leadership, Dr Meena R Chandawarkar former vice-chancellor and joint secretary of Shikshan Mandal Nagpur expressed her thoughts in a national level webinar which was organised by Karnataka Rajya Mahavidyalaya Shikshak Sangh (R) Mangalore University Vibhag on account of the celebration of International Women's Day which was held on March 9. She also expressed her joy over 2018- 2019 higher education enrolment data where for the first time boys and girls ratio was matching 1:0
The chief guest of the webinar Dr Geetha R Shenoy, advisory member Sahitya Academy, New Delhi emphasised the role of women in higher education and illustrated different personality struggles who fought for the education of women in India and she also expressed her fear during Covid time which had brought instability of income among parents, who were getting their daughters married instead of providing them further education.
President of webinar Vanaja Sriram, assistant professor, Government Arts College, Bengaluru and KRMSS Mahila chief expressed her joy over organising the national level webinar. She also said that women empowerment is not about creating a rivalry with men rather walking along with them.
Dr Subhashini Srivatsa, read the prologue. Arun Shapur, MLC Govt of Karnataka, advocate, Ravichandra, syndicate member of Mangalore University, Dr Gurunath Badiger, were present.
