Kundapur, Mar 6: National Highways Authority of India officials have said that works on the flyover that passes through the Shastri Circle here will conclude by the end of March this year. This has kindled the hope among the people that they would be able to use the flyover from April onward.
The work that had been stranded for the last several months has resumed now. The connecting roads to the flyover, which looked like ancient monuments and the road leading to the Basrur junction has also been completed. Works on cattle pass connecting road near KSRTC bus stand is in progress.
With this, people can cross over from one service road to the other only at Shastri Circle. The chances of an increased number of accidents at Basrur junction looks a possibility.
There are many government offices near Bobbaryanakatte including LIC and government offices. Even though there was a demand for access from here, the same has not been allowed because of technical reasons Therefore, people will have to take a detour of several kilometres to reach their destinations.
There are no drains to several service roads. In some places where there are drains, they do not have concrete slabs. Chief officer of the town municipality here, Goplalakrishna Shetty, said that if the highway contractors fail to undertake several works including those where the roads join the main road, the municipality has warned of filing case against them.
