Puttur: Two women arrested for assault on lady police sub-inspector

Puttur, Mar 3: It is reported that a woman police sub-inspector of the women's police station here, Sesamma, was assaulted when she tried to stop a woman from attacking her husband. The incident happened in the premises of the women's police station here on Tuesday March 2. Two women have been arrested relating to this incident.

The arrested women are Baby D'Souza, wife of Lawrence D'Souza from Salmara Muddodi here, and Asha, wife of Gopal from Nuggehalli Nettakere near Channarayapatna in Hassan district.


Sub-inspector Sesamma

Sunita D'Souza had filed complaint against Baby D'Souza while Baby had complained against Sunita on February 28. Both had been summoned to the police station to make enquiries. On that occasion, Asha, elder sister of Baby, too had visited the police station.

When Sesamma was questioning the concerned, Baby is said to have made an attempt to attack her husband Lawrence D'Souza. When the sub-inspector tried to stop her, both the women attacked the sub-inspector, it is said. The woman sub-inspector then got admitted into hospital and got herself treated.

On the basis of a complaint given by the staff of the women's police station, a case has been registered at the town police station here.
