Mangaluru: ELC conferred with Innovative Pedagogy Award by Education World

Media Release

Mangaluru, Mar 2: Early Learning Centre (ELC), has won the Innovative Pedagogy Award instituted by Education World for the year 2020-21. Vijay Moras, programme coordinator at ELC and CFAL said that with this award, ELC ranks 10th in India, 3rd in the state and 1st in Mangaluru in the Innovative Pedagogy category list released by Education World. The award was conferred in recognition to ELC’s constant endeavour of demonstrating extraordinary capability to break away from rote learning, and introducing experiential education at the pre-school level. ELC has brought a paradigm shift in the education sphere in Mangaluru, wherein the school promotes, fosters creativity and innovation in children rather than expecting them to conform to predetermined standards.

The Education World India Preschool Grand Jury Awards encourage and felicitate pre-primaries which have introduced contemporary pedagogies and practices in early childhood care and education, especially in smaller non-metro towns and cities. Pre-schools were judged on their success in ideating innovative, child-friendly and age-appropriate pedagogies. To shortlist and select these progressive preschools countrywide, nominations were invited from educationists, individuals and schools themselves supported by evidence of best practices in various categories.

The COVID-19 pandemic led ELC to reinvent teaching strategies and education delivery by using innovative methods. ELC has always been ‘learner centric’ and open to change, this has reflected in the approach towards pre-schooling and learning over the years. Even during the challenging time, there was an unwavering quest of ensuring high quality learning for every child. ELC’s library programme headed by renowned science author Nandita Jayaraj remained open and functioning throughout and undeterred in the endeavour to ensure the journey of learning continued seamlessly for children.

From live sessions with trained teachers and full access to the physical and digital library, ELC’s virtual schooling ecosystem is vibrant and fulfilling. They have meticulously planned resources to enhance a child’s well-being. This creative and child centric approach towards learning has resulted in winning of the prestigious award.

ELC is the only school in Mangaluru that has been granted an award in this category. It may be recalled that has been the recipients of ‘India’s Promising Pre-schools of the future’ award for 2017-18, 2018-19 and 2019-20 and ‘Innovation in the Curriculum’ award by Education World.
