Mangalore, Jul 2: Rains continued to soak Coastal Karnataka districts as well as Kasargod and Kodagu, on Thursday July 1. Heavy rains were experienced even on Thursday night.
Subrahmanya and Sullia received heavy rains. Almost all the places in the coast received between four and seven cms of rain on Thursday, with the city accounting for six cms. Reports received from Kasargod and Kodagu districts said that they too got good rains on Thursday. The resumption of rain has renewed hopes of farmers for a good crop. Agumbe and Ankola received seven cms of rain each.
The compound wall of a house in Bajjody in the city, which had partially collapsed due to rain last week, crashed to the ground completely. A well located in Hejmady Shivanagar, which was the source for supply of drinking water for Bappanadu area within Mulky town panchayat, collapsed. Motor pump and two sheds got buried as a result, and a few houses located within the vicinity of this well faced dangeras a result. The officials of Mulky town panchayat visited the spot and took steps to provide protection to the houses facing danger.
