Mangaluru, Feb 20: As predicted by the meteorological department, several areas in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts experienced rainfall. Some areas got rainfall on Thursday and some more got on Friday while a few places got rainfall on both these occasions. In the evening of Friday, some places got a drizzle, with some others getting normal rainfall.
Several parts of Kadaba, Beltangady and Puttur taluks also experienced strong wind, thunder and lightning along with rainfall. Ishwaramangala area got good rain along with storm. A tree which fell across the road at Meenavu Padpu on Sulliapadavu road blocked traffic for some time.

The city and surrounding places got drizzle on Friday morning while Udupi district was covered by clouds. Someshwar, Goliangady and border areas of Karkala taluk like Hosmar in Udupi district got rains. Kasargod district had a drizzle.
The Untimely rain created problems for the arecanut farmers who had laid out arecanut at the courtyard and other places on Thursday night for drying. As it rained again on Friday, they faced the problem of drying it as most of the arecanut are spread out in the courtyard for drying.
Scientist of Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre, Sunil Gavaskar, said that on account of fall in the atmospheric pressure, clouds suddenly get together due to wind and rainfall occurs all of a sudden. He said that during the eastern monsoon, this is common. He said that after a couple of day s, the climate will return to normalcy.
