Kasargod, Feb 19: A 50 MW Kasaragod Solar Power Project was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi via video conferencing at Kommangala, Paivalike on Friday, February 19. “There is no discrimination on the basis of religion, caste or regions when it comes to the development of the nation. Development in all the areas is the primary motive of the government,” the PM said.
“We have to proceed through mutual cooperation and think about development and keep aside politics, language and religion. In these present times, the use of solar energy is inevitable. The generation of solar energy and its use will be given more importance in the future. Kerala is taking steps to be a pioneer of electricity generation and has made substantial progress in it during the last five years,” said Kerala chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan.
The solar park has been installed on 250 acres of land at Paivalike, Meenja and Chippar. The government has provided the land through KSEB. Central public sector company THDC India Limited has completed the project at a cost of Rs 288 crore with the cooperation of the union government. Electricity is being sold to KSEB at the rate of Rs 3 per unit. The electricity generated at Kommangala is being passed through the 33 KV feeder to the 110 KV substation at Kubanoor. It is being received through 25 MVA transformers and distributed thereafter.
“The district is taking huge steps in the electricity sector by the implementation of the Paivalike Kommangala project. The project will solve the electricity issues in Kasargod and Manjeshwar,” said RPCKL CEO, Augustine Thomas.
Kerala governor, Arif Mohammed Khan, union minister of housing & urban affairs, civil aviation Hardeep Singh Puri, union minister of power R K Singh, state minister of electricity M M Mani, Manjeshwar MLA, M C Qamaruddin, THDCIL senior director, D V Singh, RPCKL CEO Augustine Thomas, THDCIL assistant director, U C Kanaujiya, director, G Behra, R K Vishnai and others were present.
