Mangalore, Jun 29: As another landslide near Kulshekhar in the city blocked the railway tracks on the night of Sunday June 27, train traffic has been suspended again till Wednesday. The train traffic that had been allowed since Sunday evening was suspended again after the said landslide.
Higher officials of the railways continue to monitor the situation and guide the clearance operations. The railway department hired around 30 buses on Monday to take passengers of several trains from the city to Suratkal for their onward journey to northern destinations, while passengers stranded at Suratkal were brought to the city station. The department said that most of the passengers could reach their destinations, albeit with some delay.
While passengers of Ernakulam-Lokamanya Tilak Express train and Ernakulam-Nizamuddin Express and Mangalore Central – Lokamanya Tilak Matsyagandha Express passengers were ferried to Suratkal from the city, Pune-Ernakulam Express train was terminated at Suratkal. The passengers of this train were sent by a special train to Ernakulam in the afternoon from the city. Passengers of Nizamuddin – Ernakulam Mangala Express, Lokamanya Tilak – Trivendrum Netravati Express and Lokamanya Tilak – Mangalore Matsyagandha Express were taken to the central railway station here through buses from Suratkal.
