Mangaluru, Feb 9: BJP leader Jagadish Adhikari who is in the eye of a storm for making derogatory comments on Koti-Chennaya and Billawa leader Janardhan Poojary, apologised at the historic Garodi here on Tuesday February 9.
He visited the Kodamanitaya Brahma Baidarkala Garodi on Tuesday, gave his offerings and apologised. The Garodi is dedicated to the twin cultural heroes of Tulu Nadu region, Koti and Chennayya.
Admitting that his statements had hurt the Billawa community, Adhikari said, :Veteran Congress leader Janardhan Poojary also is hurt by my statement. Therefore, I apologise. I have decided to stand in Koti-Chennaya Garodi, offer my gift and beg for pardon controversy I created. I have decided to close the issue once for and all," he said.
"I will soon visit the residence of Congress leader Janardhan Poojary and ask for pardon. I will also be going to Kudroli and Gejjegiri temples and beg for pardon after offering my gifts," he said.
Over the past few days, Jagadish Adhikari has received flak from various quarters especially from Billawa leaders and associations for his statements on Koti-Chennaya and Janardhan Poojary. Congress corporator Pratibha Kulai even announced a bounty of Rs 1 lac for anyone from Billawa community who blackens his face, while JD(S) demanded his expulsion from BJP. Adhikari apologised for this statements publicly in a press conference on Saturday February 6.
