Kasargod, Jun 25: So far, 17 people from the district have been diagnosed with swine flu, after blood tests proved the presence of H1N1 virus in them. They include four students from the town, and three persons from the family of a government doctor.
The wife and two children of a doctor working in the district hospital here have been diagnosed with this disease. Four students living in a hostel in the town also are suffering from swine flu. Blood samples of a few more persons have been collected and sent for tests, and reports are awaited.
Just like normal fever, swine flu patients suffer from fever, cough, body pain, throat pain, cold, weakness, nausea etc. Blood tests are normally conducted if medications fail to cure the patients within the first few days. The doctors have advised the people to maintain hygiene, consume food that strengthens immune system and drink hot water, and to wear face masks when dealing with persons suspected to be suffering from swine flu, to keep this disease away.
