Chikmagalur, Jun 21: The inauguration and blessing of the newly constructed building of Infant Jesus School here was held on Saturday June 19.
Dr Anthonyswamy, the bishop of Chikmagalur diocese blessed the new building and Fr Vincent Furtado, the provincial of the Capuchins in Karnataka inaugurated. C T Ravi, the MLA of Chikmagalur, launched the website of the school (www.ijsckm.org) and L Rangappa, the DDPI – Chikmagalur, inaugurated the computer laboratory of the school.
Msgr George D’Souza, the vicar general of the Chikmagalur diocese and S G Nagesh, the BEO of Chikmagalur were the chief guests.
Fr Chetan Leo Lobo, the secretary of Capuchin Education Board and Br Victor Crasta, the principal of the school were present on the dais. Fr Lawrence Dilraj Sequeira, the vice-principal of the school welcomed the gathering and Miss Supriya C S, the school teacher compered the entire programme.
The Bishop, in his presidential address thanked the Capuchins for establishing an educational institution in his diocese and requested them to serve the poor people of the society.
The MLA, C T Ravi said that he is proud to have such a magnificent building for an educational institution in his constituency and requested the school authorities to upgrade it to a degree college by and by. At the same time he cautioned every one gathered that education should not become a business and at any cost it should not become a torture with too much of discipline.
The DDPI who inaugurated the computer section was surprised to hear that the school imparts computer education right from nursery and as he congratulated the school authorities he wished that the school should become a model school not only in Chikmagalur but all over the state.
The vicar general Msgr George D’Souza said that only education can convert the hearts of the people and will help a person to become civilized in their future life. The school children entertained the gathering by presenting variety of cultural programmes.
