Mangalore, Jun 18: Lohitaksha, whose seemingly unending sufferings in a jail in Saudi Arabia ended recently, reached the cosy environs of his home in Derebail Konchady here on Thursday June 17.
Lohitaksha worked as a crane operator in the Gulf region for over 15 years. In a crane accident in 2009, he was injured. After the owner of the crane lodged a complaint against him, Lohitaksha had been jailed on the condition that he could secure his release only upon payment of about Rs 10 lacs as fine. Although he had done nothing wrong, Lohitaksha was ordered by the court to pay penalty for the damages suffered by the crane.
Various organizations including Mangalore Association of Saudi Arabia (MASA) and individuals had responded spontaneously to the clarion call that had appeared in daijiworld earlier, to extend a helping hand towards securing Lohitaksha’s release.
Lohitaksha’s daughter, Ranjeeta, received her father at Bajpe airport on Thursday.
