Mangaluru/Udupi, Dec 20: Udupi district on Sunday December 20 recorded one of its lowest daily count in the number of fresh coronavirus cases, with just four reported from across the district. Dakshina Kannada meanwhile reported 33 new cases.
As per the Dakshina Kannada district health bulletin, a total of 4,33,326 samples have been tested so far, out of which 4,00,737 have turned out to be negative.
The total number of positive cases in the district stands at 32,589, out of which only 443 are currently active.
As many as 27 patients were discharged from hospitals on Sunday, taking the total number of recoveries to 31,414.
The district has so far recorded 732 deaths due to coronavirus.
Though the cases are on a decline, the district administration has urged people to continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.
So far, the district administration has collected a whopping Rs 19,19,684 as fine in 17,995 incidents of mask violation.
Udupi
As per the district health bulletin, as many as 2,73,414 samples have been tested so far, out of which 2,50,456 have turned out to be negative.
Only four cases were reported on Sunday, taking the total number of cases to 22,958, out of which only 92 are currently active.
As many as 22 patients were discharged from hospitals on Sunday, taking the total number of recoveries to 22,678.
Out of four who tested positive on Sunday, three have been admitted to hospital, while one is in home isolation. One of them is asymptomatic.
While Udupi reported two of the four new cases, Kundapur recorded recorded one and another was from outside the district.
The district has reported 188 deaths due to coronavirus so far.
