Belgaum, May 29: A programme to create awareness and love for Konkani language in the border areas and to build unity among different languages will be organized by the Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy at the horticulture department auditorium, Hume Park, Club Road here on Sunday May 30.
Umesh Kathi, minister for prisons and horticulture will inaugurate the programme. Konkani Sahitya Academy president Kundapur Narayan Karvi will preside. Suresh Angadi, Loksabha member, Belgaum, Firoz Sheta, Belgaum North MLA, Manoj Gowda Patil, editor, Nudi Chitra, Sayunkta Karnataka and Fr George Lopez, Belgaum diocese, among others will be the chief guests .
A multilingual symposium to bring unity among the different languages will be held on the day. Dr Basavraj Jagajampi will preside. A symposium on multilingual poetry will be held in the afternoon. Louis Rodrigues, member of Konkani advisory committee, Sahitya Academy, New Delhi will preside.
Valedictory ceremony will be held in the evening. Umesh R Pangam, additional superintendent of police, Belgaum and Dr S V Kulkarni, principal R D P College, Belgaum among others will be the chief guests.
Various cultural programmes to build unity among different languages and traditions will be held on the day.
