Mangalore, May 28: Samanvaya and Kelarai Parish had jointly organized the valedictory ceremony of Fr Bernard D’Souza Memorial ten months’ tailoring and embroidery course at Kelarai Church Hall here on Tuesday May 25.
The parish priest of Kelarai Fr John Vas distributed the certificates to women candidates who had successfully completed the course and lauded the work done by Samanvaya. “This training brought unity among the parish women and helped to improve their talent”, he said.
Dr Ronald Cutinha, director of Samanvaya shared his experience of the past five tailoring cum embroidery courses conducted in different areas of Udupi and DK districts under the leadership of Samanvaya. The managing trustee of Samanvaya Dr Pius Fidelis Pinto said that the vision of Fr Bernard has been actualized by Samanvaya. He said, “Tailoring and embroidery education is an important milestone in women empowerment. This training supplements the school education and enables women to build a bright career”.
Dr Cutinha conducted the evaluation of the training course. 14 candidates shared their experiences. Sr Marita Veigas of Kelarai convent, president of Women Association Irene Lobo, tailoring teacher Pushpa Eshwar and embroidery teacher Naseema Banu were present on the occasion.
