Kundapur, May 27: Former BJP state president and Udupi-Chikmagalur MP, D V Sadanand Gowda, has reacted to messages about former BJP MLA from Puttur, Shakuntala Shetty, joining hands with the Congress, by making a stinging remark that it is the natural refuge for Shakutala, as both the Congress and herself are grossly indisciplined.
“Our party had expelled her for anti-party activities, and we are least concerned about her political moves. We do not care even if she joins a party in some foreign country. As far as we are concerned, Congress will be an ideal choice for her,” he commented.
He criticized the central government for liberalizing Coastal Regulatory Zone (CRZ) norms for Kerala in the interests of tourism, and following strict norms in the case of Karnataka, even though the state has rich tourism potential. He said that the party has already written to union environment minister, Jairam Ramesh, apprising him of the need to make ammends in the norms. He warned that a strong people’s movement will be organized against this stepmotherly treatment, if the centre does not make concessions in CRZ policies, as they hurt the poor fishermen the most.
