Udupi, Dec 9: Four pythons, including a huge one with a length of 12 feet, were found in the barren land that is filled with pests beside the road that leads from Poorna Prajna College (PPC) of the city to Smt Ammanni Ramanna Shetty Hall were found on the evening of Tuesday December 8.
All the pythons were rescued in an operation that was led by Ganesh Acharya and left in the nearby forest.
This land that belongs to a private individual was not cleared of the grass and pests for the past two years. That is why pythons were living there.
Out of the four pythons that were found, one was 12 feet in length, two measured eight feet and one was five feet in length. Ganesh Acharya suspected that more snakelets may be living in the area.
The huge python measuring 12 feet attacked Ganesh Acharya during the rescue act and his hand was injured. He was later treated in a private hospital in the city.
Lawyer Laxman Shenoy, Sudhir Nayak, auto driver Rajkumar and Ashwath joined the rescue operation.
