Puttur, Dec 5: Earnestly responding to the call for self-reliance given by the Prime Minister, a software engineer couple has invented indigenous chocolates from cocoa. They have also introduced their chocolates not only in India but also abroad. This is the success story of Keshavamurthy and Poornashree couple from Machimale in Puttur taluk, Dakshina Kannada district.
The couple was employed in software companies at Bengaluru. When coronavirus infection spread all over the world and lockdown was announced, they returned home and started to work from home. During their spare time, they invented the chocolates which have brought them name and fame.
The family has about 18 acres of agricultural land where about 500 cocoa plants are grown. The couple noticed many cocoa seeds going to waste. They thought of making chocolates out of the seeds of cocoa fruit. The call given by the Prime Minister worked as an encouragement for them to try new things.
Poornashree, employed as software engineer since the last eight years and Keshavamurthy, who has a service of 15 years, have emerged as models for the young Indians. The chocolates made in organic manner without addition of any chemicals are sold by them online. There is demand for this chocolate from various parts of the country including Maharashtra and Gujarat and abroad. The chocolates they make are like dark chocolates having very less sugar and most of the content being cocoa.
The couple deserves to be congratulated for an effort which they made during spare time, and succeeded in making them famous in the country and elsewhere.
