Mangaluru, Dec 5: Life in Dakshina Kannada (DK) remained unaffected for the state-wide bandh call given by pro-Kannada organisations, on Saturday December 5.

Pro-Kannada organizations had called for bandh on Saturday in protest against the BJP-led state government for setting up the Maratha Development Authority with Rs 50 crore corpus fund.

In the city, business in the central market remains as usual. KSRTC bus and private bus services were normal in the city as well as in the district. Auto rickshaws, cabs, hotels, fuel stations, and provision stores, business establishments and other essential services remained unaffected for the bandh call.

According to an officer from KSRTC Mangaluru division, KSRTC bus service is normal and nearly 123 buses out of 126 buses in Mangaluru Depot. Three buses were stopped due to Covid-19 reasons.

In the limits of city police commissionerate and Dakshina Kannada district, police have tightened security so that no untoward incident occurs.

Its an alarming situation for opposition parties. This shows how BJP has dug deep into DK and turned it into a 'badra kote' for the party. Its going to take decades to grab back the good old days of Congress,

Congress party has been washed out and now searching for oppurtunities to protest as a survival mechanism. All these while they were turned deaf ear and blind eyes as banks merged, and corporates took over administration of Govt enterprises, and raked in the moola as kick backs. Suddenly since last month Kudla Congress pretend to be the custodian of Tulu culture in the region. Protest for renaming the airport . Vijaya bank merger etc. All these are futile attemps that dont translate into votes.
Its better to considering merging with regional parties to form ONE strong opposition.

if bandh call was for religious divide issues.... it would be total success.... other issues are non-issues... (in fact most people do not understand other issues here... (only simple issue like religious divide/hatred is understood...)
