People residing will heave a sigh of relief from the crowd that would gather at the weekly market in Santhekatte. The weekly market has been held for the last several decades and recently extended up to a kilometre on divider beyond the service road causing a problem for the people and motorists. It used to hinder vehicular traffic on several occasions. Traffic police were always seen struggling to regulate the traffic.
Though the market was constructed, drunkards and boys on the street were found staying inside it as it was not left unoccupied. Daijiworld had also carried a news article which pointed out the issues being faced by the people residing in close proximity to the market.
Former district in-charge Pramod Madhwaraj had laid the foundation in 2018 and allotted a sufficient space for 90 people to sit and conduct business. All the basic facilities for traders and customers including water, parking and drainage have been also made available. The market is constructed in an area of nearly 17,500 square feet.
