Bengaluru, Dec 3: The case pertaining to the abduction and thrashing of former minister Varthur Prakash, who filed complaint after four days of his release, is continuing. The police, during their initial probe, have come to know that the high drama and assault happened relating to personal issues.
The Bellandur station police personnel say that the case has been transferred to Kolar as the crime took place there.
Varthur Prakash has been involved with dairying for a long. It is said that a few months back, he had bought 2,500 cows worth Rs 19 crore from a person of Pune origin. Some of the cows had died, causing him huge loss. Therefore, he had not paid the money as per agreement on time. The person from Pune repeatedly sought payment over phone. On this issue, the two had differences and quarrelled. Therefore, the person concerned arranged for Varthur's abduction and placed demand for payment of Rs 30 crore, it is said.

There is another angle to the story. Sources say that the abduction took place relating to a woman, by her relatives. On the day the kidnap took place, Varthur Prakash reportedly was escorting the woman, his acquaintance, in his car. It is said that a piece of cloth resembling the veil of the women was found in the backseat of the car.
Varthur Prakash has property at Chintamani, Kolar. Prakash and a local had fought on the issue and investigation on this issue is in progress.
However, Varthur Prakash said that the abduction was not backed either by political enmity or financial issues but only for ransom. He said that a sum of Rs 48 lac was paid to the abductors near the Cafe Coffee Day at Narasapura.
Addressing a press meet, he dismissed news appearing in the media about his abduction. He said that eight persons who came in two cars had kidnapped him and sought Rs 30 crore ransom. "They threatened me of killing me if I informed the police, and set me free at Shivarayapura near Hoskote after collecting Rs 48 lac," he claimed.
