Mangaluru, Nov 30: A huge peepal and a fig tree was uprooted near Wenlock hospital on Sunday November 29 and replanted at another spot near the hospital premises.
It is said that for the sake of construction of a new multi-specialty department building, the trees had to be uprooted and replanted.
There were four such trees which had to be uprooted. Two trees were shifted on Sunday while other two will be shifted soon.
The shifting operation started in the morning on Sunday. It took nearly 16 hours for the task to be completed.
Environmentalist Jeeth Milan Roche and Smart City project officials were present during the shifting operation.
