Daijiworld Media Network - Kundapur (SP)

Kundapur, Nov 30: Prajna (23), who was riding the pillion of a two-wheeler when she suffered critical injuries after a speeding car hit her vehicle on the evening of Saturday November 28 opposite the Mescom office at Kota, succumbed to her injuries late night on Saturday.

Prajna was being treated in a hospital at Manipal. She had visited a tourist spot in Gliyar village near Kota along with friend, Shreya Shanbhag (24), who was riding the ill-fated scooter, when a car moving towards Udupi from the direction of Kundapuor had rammed their vehicle at Kota Moorukai. Shreya, who had suffered serious injuries, was rushed to a private hospital at Brahmavar but she had died by then. Prajna was taken to Manipal where she was treated, but efforts made to save her life failed.

After post-mortem on Sunday, cremation of Shreya's mortal remains was performed near her family home at Chamtady near Beloor, while that of Prajna was performed at Kundapur.

The locals turned their ire against the car driver, as they said that he was driving the car recklessly in a drunken state. They also expressed resentment at the effort of the car driver to flee. It is learnt that on the basis of the complaint made by the people, the driver was subjected to medical examination.

Accidents may take place any time, any where involving, four cars, busses etc. The problem is some people drive under the influence of alcohol or speeding up to over take other vehicle or competition of two buses belonging to different companies. Even pedestrians are knocked out by speeding vehicles. What to do ?

All what you have written seem to be endemic to coastal Karnataka!

Even Mumbai, with such a huge population & vehicular density does not report so many accidents!
I reiterate, 2 wheelers are a strict NO, NO in this part of the state!! You never know when you will go to your Creator!
