Bangalore, May 7: Three students from the state chose to end their lives for failing in the SSLC examination, while the fourth one committed suicide, having been disappointed at getting marks less than she expected, in the examination.
Pooja (16), a student of Matrumandali School in Mysore, and resident of Belagola in Srirangapatna district, who returned home weeping after seeing the results, soaked her body with kerosene, before setting herself on fire. Manjaiah Kalaiah Hiremutt (16) from Hirenandihalli in Byadagi taluk also resorted to this method to commit suicide.
Anand Poojary (16), a resident of Waghwade Cross in Macche village in Belgaum taluk, a student of a private school in Tilakwadi Belgaum, chose to give vent to his frustration by hanging himself. Hema (16) a student of Paper Town High School in Bhadravati, distraught at not getting first class marks consumed rice mixed with poison to kill herself. She had passed in second class, it is learnt.
