Mangaluru, Nov 9: The Srinivas University IEEE Student Branch arranged a Webinar on 'Healthtech – Current Trends and Challenges' on November 6, 2020. Shiva Kumar Hosangadi, director, Software
Engineering, GE Healthcare, Bengaluru was the resource person.
“Healthtech aims to provide ubiquitous, reliable, high-quality healthcare services to the needy. Technology cannot replace the doctors and healthcare experts instead it can help them to in better and quicker decision making. If a person gets the right treatment at right time the possible damage can be reduced. Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and Deep Learning help in this regard. There are ample research opportunities in medical image analytics and text analytics. During the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic, technology was extensively used in the healthcare sector. However healthcare data is a very complicated one and there are security, privacy and regulatory issues associated with the same. It is easy to develop a device and test it but when it comes to medical equipment there are strict regulations and it is not that easy to obtain a certification from the authority. Despite these challenges, Healthtech is growing at a very fast rate providing employment and research opportunities. It is good for a developing country like India” he said.
Vinayachandra, chair, IEEE Srinivas University Student Branch welcomed and introduced the resource person. Rajeshwari M, chair, programme committee, IEEE Srinivas University Student Branch proposed a vote of thanks. Dr Krishna Prasad K, counselor, IEEE SUSB guided the proceedings of the webinar.
The programme was compered by Geetha Poornima K, Secretary IEEE SU.
The programme was attended by approximately 70 participants, including members of the Srinivas University Student Branch, College of Computer Science and Information Science Research Scholars.
