Kaup, Nov 9: On the basis of complaints received from the people, PWD has asked Mudarangady gram panchayat (GP) to remove the name board announcing the name of a circle in Mudarangady gram panchayat as 'MLC Ivan D'Souza Circle' at the earliest.
PWD had developed the Nandikoor-Shirva connecting road at Mudarangady town area and also created a circle there. This circle was named after Ivan, and the former MLC had inaugurated it in July.
Many had complained to the PWD, Udupi deputy commissioner and others, objecting to naming the circle after the Congress leader. The PWD, in its letter addressed to Mudarangady panchayat development officer in September, asked the official to remove the board containing the MLC's name as such a board gives wrong message to the people.
Even after the letter, no action was taken. The villagers had again sent their complaints. On October 9, another letter was sent to the panchayat development officer with the warning that if the order is not complied with, the matter would be taken up with higher authorities for suitable action.
