Moodbidri, May 3: Dakshina Kannada district in-charge minister, Krishna J Palemar, said that the recent hike in bus fare by nearly 10%, effected by the private bus operators in the twin-districts, does not have the sanction of the Regional Transport Authority.
Minister replying to the query by scribes as to whether the RTA is aware of the bus fare hike effected by the bus operators, and whether it was need-based contacted te concerned and assured that the officials of the regional transport office would be taking action against the illegal hike immediately.
Palemar said that the people of the district have welcomed the Volvo bus services introduced by Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) between Mangalore and Manipal and from Mangalore to Kasargod. “Buoyed by the encouragement received, KSRTC will soon introduce bus services from Mangalore to Puttur, Vittal and Karkala,” he said.
Dakshina Kannada district BJP president, Padmanabha Kottari, vice-president K P Jagadish Adhikari, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, BJP block president Kasturi Panja and Sudarshan M among others were present.
