Mangalore, Apr 30: Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy will be organizing ‘Konkani Rangotsav’ at the Town Hall in the city from May 3 to 6. This was stated by the president of the Academy, Narayana Kharvi, at a press conference held here on Thursday April 29.
“The ‘Rangotsav’ will be inaugurated by the district in-charge minister, Krishna J Palemar at 5 pm on May 3. MLA Yogish Bhat, city mayor, Rajani Dugganna, Yakshagana Bayalata Academy president, Kumble Sundar Rao etc., will be participating in the function. On this occasion, Srinivas Choorya, son of famous theatre personality, the late Ramanand Choorya, will be felicitated,” he explained.
On that day, children’s plays, ‘Majrak Ghant Bandchi Kone?’ and ‘Kombyak Shingam Aylar’, will be staged from 6 pm onwards.
The plays to be presented from 5.30 pm onwards on May 4 are, ‘Babu Tata’ and ‘Ajyali Maja’. On May 5, ‘Bhakta Dhruva’ and ‘Christa Khatir’ will be staged. The plays that will be enacted on May 6 are, ‘Panjar Shala’ and ‘Hoon Udka Ghot’.
The valedictory function will be held at 6.30 pm on May 6. MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, scholar, Dr Prabhakar Joshi and writer, Na Damodar Shetty will be participating, he said.
Academy member convener, Mangalpady Namdev Shenoy, registrar, S H Shivarudrappa and Gopinath Bhat were present at the press conference.
