Bangalore: State to Convert Mangalore-Hassan Highway into Six-lane

Bangalore, Apr 18: State government has decided to convert Mangalore-Hassan Highway into six-lane.

Speaking to presspersons, public works minister C M Udasi  said that the stretch is part of 4,000-km-highway that has been decided to be taken up for upgradation. Centre will implement the project, while the state government will co-operate by making available land through acquisition, he said.

The project to be executed by National Highway Authority of India will entail a cost of approximately Rs 8 crore per km.

    Now please everyone start dreaming of traveling in state-of the art 6 lane express way..At least this is what we can do and our elected representatives expects from us. I think we shuould protest against this mockery.As we all know the history,so much of money gone wasted for maintainance of existing one. Now i think we can expect NICE(which is happening in Bangalore) here..I mean land mafia along with greedy politicians.
    More over there is no proper project phasing followed along this stretch.For example Man galore to BC Road four lane work.It is a disastrous project and we can see the concern on common people the authorities have.

    It is 6 lane so that 6 lines are open to make money by the politicians and contractors in the name of land aquisition, strike and many avenues. It would have been better if roads and road safety were given more priority.

    Why not 12 lanes instead of 6. It's bigger number. Impressive right ?
    practial solution : upgrade train system that will solve  the problem.

    The decision is most welcome.

    I call aupon the central and state authorities, to to the traffic survey on NH17. I am sure the results will call for not 6 laning but 8 laning!

    Our elected representatives are sleeping.

    This is very unfortunate.

    Six lane Hassan-Mangalore NH ! What an idea! Can any body dream this to happen in near future? Only time will tell. 'Buddivantharu'of Dakshina Kannada only have the patience to hear this kind of news.Let us hope the best hopelessly.

    Another cheap joke. When NHAI are unable to maintain a double lane road for a single monsoon, six lane is a far off thought. One thing is sure though whichever party is ruling the state Mr Udasi will always be a minister.
