Bantwal, Oct 7: Thieves broke into a house on Tuesday October 7 past midnight, breaking the door latch when residents were asleep, opened the cupboard in the room and stole 28 sovereign gold worth about Rs 12 lac. The incident was reported from a house near Amtoor mosque, Karingana, Kalladka.
Amtoor resident Sulaiman had got his daughter Mishriya married at Polya, near Kabaka. Mishriya had come from her husband’s house in Polya to her father’s house at Amtoor. The gold jewellery worn by her, when she came from her husband’s house, was kept in a cupboard in the house.
Thieves broke into the house reportedly in the midnight. The door of their room was not closed as children were sleeping. Some noise was heard at about 2 am. Sulaiman woke up due to suspicion and found the back door of the house open. The door of the cupboard was also open and the gold in it was missing.
Sulaiman lodged a complaint at Bantwal town police station. Bantwal sub-inspector Avinash, forensic experts and dog squad arrived and conducted spot inspection.
