Bantwal, Oct 6: In an incident which happened near Badanaje bus stand on the taluk on Monday October 5, a team of policemen led by Vittal police sub-inspector Vinod S, took into custody a person who was found to be peddling ganja. As much as 450 grams of ganja was found.
The arrested accused was Asif alias Achi (30), resident of Vidyapoura, Kadaba. Relating to this incident, another accused, Haris from Kambalabettu, has been absconding.
A team of policemen led by Vittal sub-inspector Vinod, was on duty when the team got information that Asif was illegally transporting ganja by a motorbike. They stopped him. On questioning, Asif revealed that ganja had been hidden near the residence of Haula Haris from Kambalabettu. The police checked the spot and found about 450 grams of ganja.
The police have taken into possession ganja, motorbike and other items totally valued at about Rs 59,000. A case has been registered and investigation is under way.
