Mangalore: Torchlight Protest by Congress Underlines State’s Power Problem

Mangalore, Apr 12: The District Congress Committee (DCC) demanded uninterrupted power supply in the state by holding a torchlight procession in the city, as a mark of protest against the failure of the state government on Monday April 12.

The procession was inaugurated by MLAs  K Abhayachandra Jain and U T Khader by igniting the torchlight.

Speaking on the occasion, Jain said that the state government had failed to generate power. 





























 

“The chief minister B S Yeddyurappa has maintained a lie by talking of purchase of power from other states, but there is no action in relation to the purchase of electricity”, he said, adding that the state has never seen such an inefficient government which cannot act on the people’s demand.

“The power problem has caused every citizen of the state to curse the administration, mainly students and farmers. The ruling party in state will experience the people’s anger soon”, he said.

The procession passed through the main roads of the city and protestors burnt an effigy of the state chief minister at the end of the procession.

Vice-presidents of DCC Ivan D’Souza and Kodijal Ibrahim, Youth congress president Arun Coelho, leaders Moideen Bava, G A Bava, T K Sudhir, and Lancy Serrao, were present.

    Finally Congress in streets after announcing Panchayth Election. These days they were sleeping……….At least they got 50 people to protest. They will not get 5 volunteers in each booth to canvass for election. Congress leaders and elected representatives are harassed, ill treated and sidelined their party workers. Even they are not enrolled the committed party workers to primary membership. Congress will be fully vanished from Karnataka in upcoming elections.

    Central government manages the central grid. Why doesn't the congress party(which is in power) try to persuade the central government to give more power to the state to solve the problem. By taking to streets, no one is benefited. People are not fools to belive that power shortage was created in a day. Congress has to answer a lot about what kind of future planning they did while they were in power. Demonstrating is the easiest thing to do, solving a problem is difficult. BBMP elections have really shown congress their place. I urge congress folks to rise up to the occassion and engage central government to supply more power to the state

    State BJP is total failure in every dept of governance, exactly like state congress unit. It is a good sign congress is starting to highlight states horrible administration. Or by the end of 5 years tenure of state BJP, we will have barren bellary, communal mangalore, sewage water drinking bangalore..

    Let INC ask the central govt why the food prices al r rocketing sky heights?? double standards?? wake up Mr george borromeo,... Dont show ur masked face against BJP alone.. People are smart.... they are rejecting the congress pseudo secularism.!!

    Power problem was present for so many years now. People have not forgotten that even during congress rule there was power shortage. Now what is the point of blaming other parties??? The same concern will exist if some other party rules the state. Is it in the hands of a few people to get more rains and fill our dams to produce more electricity ?? Lets look into what we can do to solve the issue instead of wasting time in protests. Use that time to educate people on the use of solar energy and how to optimally use power !

    It is pleasing to note that Indian National Congress Party has represented the Local Citizens Electricity woes in right manner.
    Shortage of Electricity is a menace, every citizen in Karnataka Urban , Suburban and Rural are suffering. Specially our students, who is our future, are suffering during their crucial juncture, may be it is SSLC OR PUC OR FINALS in Graduation. It is the question of their careers.
    We pay our Taxes, we pay for the Electricity we consume, then why the Government is playing with our lives?
    It is my request to the INC PARTY, recently Karnataka Government has increased Milk price to Maximum Rs.3.00 maximum,The CM has confirmed it,then why in Mangalore we have been charged Rs.4.00?
    Any answers for this?
    INC go for it, remind the public how they were wronged by their Favorite BJP led Government.
