Mumbai, Apr 12: The decennial celebrations of Charkop Kannadigara Balaga and inaugural function of Charkop Kannada Bhavana were held at Kandivali West, here on Sunday April 11.
Maha Satyanarayana puja was conducted at 10 am following which; the Member of Parliament Sanjay Nirupam inaugurated the Bhavan. Speaking on the occasion, he lauded the spirit of Kannadigas in the region and said that their unity and hard working nature is a good example to others.
Sharada Narayan Rao inaugurated the new auditorium. Shailaja Vijay Girkar, deputy mayor, Mumbai, Dharmapal U Devadiga, president of Devadiga Sangha Mumbai, Shubada Gudekar, corporator, Mumbai, Hema Poojary, Alkala Harish Shetty, president Bunts Sangha, Mumbai, Umesh B Kotian, bureau chief, Udayavani, Mumbai were the chief guests.
Gopal Shetty, MLA, Maharashtra and president of BJP, Mumbai, Yogesh Sagar, MLA, Maharashtra, Beemeshwara Joshi, Horanadu Annapoorneshwari temple trustee, Dr P V Shetty, Mumbai Cricket Association former joint secretary and Yermal Harish Shetty, former vice-president, Bunts Sangha Regional Committee participated in the inaugural ceremony.
Sponsors, M K Janardhan, Ajit Kathri, R D Makdum, Vinay Bhat, Sanjay Bhat, Karunakar Kannarpady, Manjunath Bannur, L V Amin, Gopal C Poojary, Jaya C Shetty and Harish K Chevar were felicitated on the occasion.
The decennial celebrations commenced in the Ekveera School Ground, Charkop here at 4.30 pm. Artist Surendra Kumar Hegde presided over the programme. Scholar Kairabettu BVishwanath Bhat blessed the occasion.
Vinayak Patil, general secretary, Ekveera Dnyan Prasaraka Mandal, Padmanabha Payyade, former charperson, Bunts Sangha Regionla Committee, Prakash B Bhandary, acp, Kamire Vishwanath Shetty, chairperson, education committee, Bunts Sangha and Shyam Shetty, president, Kandivali Kannada Sangha among others were the guests of honour.
Children of the Balaga presented variety of cultural programmes on the occasion. Satyam Shivam Sundaram yakshagana was presented in the dance form. Yuva prathibha Gaurava award was conferred to some of the talented youth on the occasion.
The programme was held under the leadership of Balaga president Bhaskar Sarapady. Gopal Trasi compered the programme and secretary of the Balaga M S Rao proposed the vote of thanks.
