Rome, Apr 12: The Konakni Kutam gathered to share the Easter joy at Collegio San Paolo Roma, here on Divine Mercy Sunday April 11.
The day began with the solemn Eucharistic celebration presided over by Fr Praveen Leo. In his introduction, he said that it is easy to sing ‘Alleluia, Christ is Risen’ but it is hard to live this truth. Yet, he said, “With the belief in the risen Lord we live the reality of the resurrection every day”.
He called upon the people gathered to pray for the departed soul of Konkan Kogul Wilfy Rebimbus who passed away a month ago and to Henry Noronha, father of John Noronha, who passed away recently.
While paying special tribute to Wilfy Rebimbus, Fr Leo told that every Konkani family remembers him because of the revolution he brought in Konkani language. He recalled that there was hardly any Konkani function without a song from Wilfy.
During the homily Fr Sunil, said that members of the Kutam should try to lead exemplary lives. He gave the example of lives of St Francis Xavier, St Maximilian Kolbe and Mother Theresa and urged people to follow them. Fr Maxim Pinto and Fr Lancy Monteiro led the Choir with their melodious voice.
The celebration of the fellowship after the mass began with the lighting of the lamp by Fr Elias Frank, Bro Antony Crasta, Sr Teresa, Lena and baby Carol.
Fr Stephen welcomed the gathering. He appreciated the family spirit of Konkani Kutam and encouraged the members to maintain the same unity in the future. Sr Pauline Pereira raised the toast and called upon the members to live the Resurrection in a revolutionary way in everyday living.
Many fun-filled games such as balloon bursting, lucky star, Queen of Sheba and Housie-housie were organized on the occasion by Fr Praveen, Fr Maxim, Fr Rocky and Riana. Dorathy Albuquera distributed prizes for the winners.
A team led by Hilary Crasta served delicious lunch for the members. She was assisted by Nancy, Bro Tony, Sr Thelma, Fr Mark and Fr Leo. Fr Rocky compered the programme and Nancy proposed the vote of thanks.
