Kundapur, Sep 27: A rivulet stands between the town and Gangolli. The distance between these two towns is about one kilometre. However, as of now, people going to Gangolli have to cover a distance of 18 kilometres as there are no direct roads to Gagolli. If a bridge is built between these two towns, this travel can be cut short to just a kilometre.
The dream of building a road between these two important towns in the district has come to life again. A campaign is being carried out through the social websites for building a bridge between the town and Gangolli and then a ring road between Manganese Road Gangolli to Arate in Hosadu village.
Gangolli is mainly known for fishing, and it has developed because of this reason. If the two towns that are known for fishing activity are brought closer, the activity may get further fillip. Gangolli town also will grow rapidly in such a case. Gangolli is an important town in the district and fishing activity has opened up opportunities to many people to settle down and carry on with their lives here. The town can develop further if it gets a short route to the taluk headquarters. Kundapur also will develop if the bridge comes up. The bridge will also be convenient for the tourists going to Trasi and Maravanthe and people coming to the town to attend courts, offices, schools and college etc will stand to benefit. The bridge will also cause the traffic on the national highway to come down. Economically both the towns will develop and tourist potential can be explored to the fullest.
If this project gets the attention of the government with an eye on development, the bridge can come up without much effort. This is the most important demand from this region.
Currently, the only road to Gangolli from here is via Tallur, Hemmady and Trasi, which involves a journey of about 15 to 18 kilometres. If the bridge is built, this distance will come down to 1.5 km. As Kundapur now has its own ring road, the bridge project has become more relevant.
People of this region have started a campaign through social media for this bridge. Hashtags are being used to kick up a huge campaign and people from this region, both from the country and abroad, have been supporting this demand. The fact that this project is dear to so many people has turned into its positive point. If the local people and elected representatives respond to the demand, this bridge can come up fast.
Ring road between Gangolli and Arate
With this, another demand that is coming up is to build a ring road between Manganese Road Gangolli to Arate in Hosadu village parallel to Panchagangavali river. This also is very much necessary for the development of the region and for the convenience of the people. It will help the locals, fishermen, and the farmers. The proposed ring road will give added impetus to the region and will turn into the nearest route for many houses which have no connecting roads as of now.
