Mangalore, Nov 26: Akash, son of Pushpa, an Anganwadi teacher, sustained injuries to his eyes, both his hands and the abdomen region, after the television remote control he was holding, exploded unexpectedly on Thursday March 25.
The boy, a second standard student of Little Flower School in Elinje near Kinnigoly in the taluk, was about to move out of his home in Elinje for school, when he held the remote control device, which exploded in his hands. All parts of the remote control except its battery cells, were smashed into pieces. Due to the impact of the blast, the knickers the boy was wearing, was torn into pieces.
Pushpa’s husband, who works abroad, informed over phone that the remote control device was not original, but was bought from Mangalore through a local electronic shop a few years ago. The television set itself is about a decade old.
The boy is out of danger and recovering, Dr Bekal, who is treating him, said.
