Dharwad, Aug 28: A Congress leader here courted controversy after hailing Pakistan in his enthusiasm to show the union government in poor light as far as handling of corona situation is concerned.
When delivering address at a programme, 'Arogya Hasta', held at Navalgunda, Dharwad district Congress president, Anilkuar Patil, was heard praising Pakistan. He said that the central government looked on helplessly when migrant workers were driven to roads. He claimed that people who fed their families out of daily wages earned, were doomed to die. He added that in spite of all these happenings, the coronavirus situation could not be regulated.
Giving the example of Pakistan, he said that people living in Pakistan, Bangladesh and India are of the same lineage and their genes are similar. "We are siblings. When people from one country go to the other, they cannot be differentiated from one another because all these people are the same. Our climatic conditions and temperature are also the same. But in Pakistan, only 300 to 400 corona cases are reported per day. In India, we witness over 70,000 cases every day," he said, hailing Pakistan for this feat.
Patil said that the government has totally failed in controlling coronavirus. He predicted that this situation will continue as the government is incapable of doing anything. He was reportedly profuse in heaping praises on Pakistan, it is said.
